Biography

Since childhood Maxina was always drawn to religious art. As a child she experimented in oils and her compositions were mostly on religious or sacred themes. As a teenager, amongst pop posters on the wall, images of religious Mosaics and the frescoes of El Greco were usually to be found. Her interest in Middle Eastern Studies, Mysticism & Comparative Religion, Biblical Studies, Experimental Archaeology, Art and Interior Design is in stark contrast to her professional career, at a senior level in Business Management, Marketing and Sales.

For Maxina, discovering Iconography was a Damascene moment where her faith and interest in sacred art intersected perfectly. That moment led her on a voyage of discovery and reprised her love of art, scripture and the saints. It became an expression of faith and a natural metier. Whilst pursuing her studies, Maxina was involved in a collaborative work in her church, culminating in the founding of a studio for Christian art at Ealing Abbey, in West London. For Maxina, bringing beauty and the practice of Art and Iconography as prayer, back into the heart of the church is a great joy. Sharing this work to encourage the journey of faith, support education, master challenge and invest in the spiritual dimensions of Christian community is of utmost importance.
