I have always been fascinated by looking at and making pictures. I studied art after leaving school, though made a living later doing other things.
It was a great joy (and a bit of a surprise) to be offered a place on the icon painting course in the first place. It has certainly been one of the most important educational  experiences of my life.
I have learned many new skills and met some wonderful and talented people during the last three years.
My art and spiritual practices have been greatly enhanced. I am most grateful to Aidan especially and to my fellow students for their presence and help during the course. And to God for bringing me this way.

Biography

Alan Hudson has been fascinated by looking at and making pictures since early childhood.

On leaving school he attended art college and obtained a degree in Fine Art before training as an art teacher.

He later retrained as a social worker and then in the early 1990s as a psychotherapist. He spent many years working with families where children and young people had encountered serious and debilitating emotional difficulties during the course of their development.

He has experienced a spiritual awakening through membership of a 12 step addiction recovery programme:

‘Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.’

Learning to paint Icons continues to be a vital component of that daily quest.

Alan is married and has two children, three stepchildren and five grandchildren.
