ABOUT THE ARTIST
Although Amira has a background in English Literature, she had a keen interest in traditional craft and dreamed of studying Fine Art. As she had previously experimented with ceramic tiles, she chose to specialize in ceramics and worked with a diverse range of techniques such as cuerda seca and lustre, and also refined her painting skills. Fascinated by the endless possibilities in textures and colours offered by ceramic glazes, she plans to focus on tile-making after graduation. The programme helped her work towards her goal of producing unique shapes, sizes, and textures that would set her tiles apart from factory-made ones.
