Open House Festival 2026
It was a delight to welcome visitors to our studios at the King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts on Charlotte Road as part of London’s Open House Festival.
We kicked off the festival with a discussion on the transformation of Shoreditch and the School’s move from Regent’s Park to our current home in Shoreditch, led by Dr Sydney Ayers Mercer, with panellists Matthew Lloyd, Neal Shasore and Sarah Robinson.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover the building’s history and transformation through a guided tour led by architect Matthew Lloyd, including access to areas that are normally closed to the public, such as the roof with its rotating ventilation cowls and the basement.

They also explored the library, viewed a drawing and painting exhibition by school alumni, wandered through our studios where students demonstrated traditional craft techniques, and visited a market showcasing stunning arts and crafts created by our alumni.

We would like to thank our colleagues, students, and alumni for generously sharing their time, expertise, and talents throughout the three-day event.
Finally, we would like to thank the Open House Festival team for welcoming us to this year’s festival.
We look forward to the programme for next year!
