About

Try your hand at this Easter tradition and make your own Pysanky egg. Practiced in many Orthodox Eastern European communities, the eggs are given as a symbolic gift of new life.

Students will first be introduced to traditional motifs and patterns and the symbolism behind them, including geometric patterns, and floral/vegetal forms. You will then learn to decorate the eggs with geometric patterns using a wax-resist method and colour the eggs with layers of dye.
