About
Inspired by the Cappela Palatina, in Palermo, we will explore the field of Cosmatesque ornament. This course will provide the method of construction for typical Cosmatesque motifs such as the guilloche, an ornamental design comprised of overlapping lines and curves and surrounding ornamentation. The class will also focus on general methods for the construction of a wide array of designs that appear inside annular regions and the decorative roundels at the center of many designs.
