About the artist

Salma is one of many artists inspired by the magical mosque of Ibn Tulun in Cairo. Fascinated by the endless variety of patterns carved into the plaster along the spandrels and soffits of the arches, she has created a blue and beige ceramic panel inspired by them. Her subtle colour palette illuminates the shallow carving of the patterns. In addition to this panel, Salma made a beautiful selection of Iznik pattern-inspired plates.
