about the artist

Throughout his long experience in wooden fretwork, Hassan was always interested in learning alternative complex woodwork techniques. He was inspired by previous graduates’ Mangour screens on display at the Jameel House of Traditional Arts Cairo. His final piece is an elaborate Mangour screen with a design that reminds the viewer of diverse stellar forms.
