ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hany has training in interior design, criticism, and folkloric studies, as well as extensive experience as a graphic designer and metalworker with expertise in the zincography technique. Hany arrived at the program with a desire to learn more about traditional arts and crafts, particularly woodwork techniques. He has created meticulous work throughout the program and has shown significant prowess in traditional joinery techniques. For his graduation project, he set himself the challenging task of designing an intricate traditional joinery pattern with curved pathways, which he was able to execute beautifully after much research and experimentation. Hany has his own workshop which he aims to expand, and wants to focus on creating replicas of art pieces from various Islamic periods in Egypt.
