Aya Suliman (Gypsum Carving)

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Aya has a background in Fine Arts, and is an experienced sculptor who has worked with a wide range of materials such as clay, limestone, sandstone, granite, and marble. Aya chose to specialize in Gypsum carving during her second year as she wanted to explore a new material and learn about mold-making while continuing to strengthen her carving and engraving skills. For her graduation project, Aya designed and constructed a beautiful full-scale carved stone bench. This marked the very first time a graduating student worked with stone, and as a result we now plan to officially include stone in our list of specializations offered to students. After her graduation, Aya aims to have her own workshop where she not only creates her own art pieces, but also shares her knowledge by teaching sculpture and carving.
